Allotment Soup Big Green Open Day

Sun 9 June, 2024 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Join Art Gene at Allotment Soup, The Isle of Walney Community growing space on Sunday 9th June for our open day in celebration of the national Great Big Green Week.

The theme this year is ‘Swapping Together for Good’ and we encourage you bring along seeds, seedlings, plants, and pots and garden tools you no longer use to add to the swaps table. You can exchange them for things other residents bring along – and/or for an afternoon tea and mocktails from us!

Come along for a relaxing afternoon to explore your local community allotment and to meet the volunteers and Art Gene team. Find out how we manage the site for biodiversity and pick up tips for how you can “Do Your Bit” for a Zero Carbon Cumbria. There will be family-friendly sustainability workshops, information stands and tea and scones, all free of charge.

Our event is the day after Dave’s Day. In honour of Dave Myers, Hairy Biker and local celebrity chef, we’ll be testing some of Dave’s very own scone recipies.

We encourage you to walk, cycle or use public transport: Bus 2 from Barrow Town Hall drops you at the bottom of West Shore Road. From there, the site is a short walk (towards the Promenade), on the right, nearly opposite the Fire Station.
