Climate Solutions for Cumbrian Landscapes: Hedgerows

Explore the critical role of Cumbria’s hedgerows in responding to the climate crisis at this free online Zero Carbon Cumbria event.
While often taken for granted, our humble hedgerows are vital to sequestering and storing carbon emissions in their roots, leaves and surrounding soil. They also support nature recovery by providing homes, foraging and movement corridors for our wildlife. Added benefits include helping to slow water runoff, supplying a rich variety of food, creating shelterbelts for livestock, and contributing to improving air quality. Of course, they’re also an historic and beautiful part of the traditional English countryside.
You’ll hear from a range of guest speakers in this one-hour whistlestop tour of hedgerows, organised by Cumbria Action for Sustainability and funded by the National Lottery as part of the Zero Carbon Cumbria programme.
