Come Himalayan Balsam Bashing in Wigton

Wed 12 June, 2024 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

Himalayan balsam is a non-native invasive species that spreads rapidly due to the enormous amount of seeds it produces. Particularly along riverbanks this is a problem, with seeds being carried across the water. The Wiza Beck in Wigton is infested with it and the West Cumbria Rivers Trust wants to eradicate it. It mainly grows on the edge of and in the river, so you need to be comfortable with walking (in wellies) in shallow water. The event is free to attend, but only over 16s only.
