Find out more about local producers and the joys and challenges of upland farming at the Gather in Ennerdale Bridge.
The afternoon will be split between talks and discussions on food, sustainability, land use, and nature-friendly livestock farming, and a chance to take a short walk along the River Ehen to find out more about soil, sheep, wild flowers and what makes a healthy river. There will also be a chance to sample some local produce and learn about local food-producing businesses in our region.
Everyone is welcome, but please book in advance.
The walk will be 2 miles along field paths – please check the forecast and come equipped with strong walking shoes / boot and a waterproof (and / or sun hats, sunscreen and light, long sleeved clothing if the weather is fine). It will be supported by the West Cumbria Rivers Trust.
Refreshments: Lunch is available to purchase at The Gather, but free afternoon refreshments will be provided at the event to showcase local produce, including scones with jam from Wild and Fruitful, vegan oak-cakes and Strawberries from the Growing Well charity based at Egremont.
