Join a book signing and fundraiser hosted by the Penrith Swift Group
James Rebanks, a local farmer and author, will talk about his latest book set on a remote island off the coast of Norway. He will describe his visit to help the women who care for wild eider ducks in the traditional way and collect the down after the young have left the nest. The book has been described by Booker Prize winning novelist John Banville, as “a quiet but ringing masterpiece”. James farms with his family in Matterdale, doing his best to restore the life that had vanished from the northern fells to leave a legacy for the future.
