Rebuild Site
The Rebuild Site CIC was formed in 2021 to prevent usable building materials going to waste. It supports local community projects with free and reduced cost materials, and pilots circular economy approaches to material use in the construction industry.
Its purpose is to encourage everyone to rethink how to better use materials, reclaim materials that are currently being thrown away or ‘down cycled’, and reuse as many excess and ‘nearly-new’ materials as possible, creating value in what is often treated as waste.
Rebuild is based at Kingmoor Park in Carlisle, from where it runs its surplus building materials shop. The materials it sells (at reduced cost) are collected as surplus from local building and construction sites, and would have otherwise been ‘down cycled’ or sent to landfill. As a social enterprise, Rebuild’s profits help to provide building materials to community groups and charities for free or at very low cost.
Rebuild has a friendly team and welcomes volunteers to work in the shop, or as part of the workshop team turning surplus timber into fun woodworking projects. If you would like to join the team, you’re warmly invited to get in touch!
