Emissions Reduction Action Plans Launched at Zero Carbon Cumbria Summit

This week marks a significant milestone in our journey towards a sustainable future, as the Zero Carbon Cumbria Partnership (ZCCP) publishes four sector emissions reduction pathways (ERPs) and action plans (ERAPs).

The plans are an important step towards moving away from polluting fossil fuels and improving the quality of life for everyone. Cleaner air, new job opportunities, better public health and a thriving local economy are just some of the benefits these plans aim to deliver.

The emissions reduction pathways and action plans are a culmination of months of dedicated work and partnership and provide a pathway for tackling emissions in the key sectors transport, buildings, consumption and waste, and farming and other land use. Each plan sets out clear targets, stakeholders and proposes actionable steps to accelerate our transition to a net-zero carbon county by 2037.

To mark the launch, ZCCP is hosting the first-ever Zero Carbon Cumbria Summit today, bringing together around 90 stakeholders from diverse interests, to discuss and deliberate on the plans. The summit aims to turn plans into action by gathering support from key stakeholders for specific initiatives that will reduce Cumbria’s carbon emissions.
