The Zero Carbon Cumbria Partnership (ZCCP) Strategic Oversight Board (SOB) provides assurance, advocacy and leadership to the work of the partnership.
The Board is made up of members from the partnership’s strategic organisations such as Cumberland and Westmorland and Furness councils, the Lake District National Park as well as representatives from our community groups and youth sectors.
The Board is currently reviewing its terms of reference which is does regularly to reflect changing priorities it its work programme. Key activities of focus for the Board for the next 12 months include future funding for ZCC, devolution, supporting the implementation of the four sector group Emission Reduction Action Plans and responding to the Citizens Assembly recommendations.
The Board is also supporting the sector groups in addressing persistent challenges and barriers to action. The SOB will review asks to UK Government around policy change, funding and data availability that seeks to better support delivery of action locally. As these asks are agreed across different sectors it will allow the partnership to provide a consistent message to influence policy change through various partner channels.
The SOB is also reviewing its membership to strengthen the breadth of knowledge, support and advocacy it offers. Members from Enterprising Cumbria and our farming sector will join the Board to connect directly to our business and farming communities – two key sectors. The Board is also considering how it can engage with partners from other strategic organisations such as Electricity North West, the police and the NHS.
Two other important areas of focus for the Board over the next few months is to secure new funding for the partnership and work closely with partners to respond to the ongoing devolution process. Further updates will be added to this page so please check back regularly.
